Can I get a quick survey of comparative lap times between the 944 Cup front runners and the fastest Spec Miata's for the same track/weekend? Out here we are about 1 second faster at most tracks. Greg F

Thanks Tim and Dave, but it seems you don't run at the same time as the SM Miatas. Tim, in your results there is only one 924S listed and he is 3 seconds off. Also....what is an ISM Miata? We dont have that class out here in the West. Searching 944 Cup on Mylaps produces zero results, so no help there. Surely you guys know who is the quickest at a particular track in 944 Cup? Is there a lap record chart somewhere on the new website? Greg F

The two links I posted have Spec Miata and 944 Cup. They don't run in the same group, but those results are from the same day at the same track. Just open both links and compare side by side.
Both are running about the same times.

Sorry Dave, earlier the MyLaps site wouldn't open. Now it appears to be ok. They do indeed look pretty close, here the only time we are with the "pro" Spec Miata guys is at the Seattle double Nat or Rose Cup. I suspect that both Portland and Seattle have longer straights than Summit pt. which may explain why they are much closer together there. I think the Miata class is pretty consistent for speed across the country, so I am gauging the relative performance of 944 Cup and Spec. Greg

Anyone know the power to weight ratio of the SM?

1.6l Miata must weigh 2325lb and a good one makes 119-122hp at the wheels. 19.29 lb/hp using a 120.5hp median. 944 Cup should be 18.05 lb/hp. Greg F

We just raced with a field of 15 Spec Miatas at PBIR last weekend. Here are the results which you can then choose to separate by class: http://www.mylaps.com/results/showevent.jsp?id=526141John Adamczyk was the quickest Spec Miata there that weekend, and I was the quickest 944 Cup car. We were generally 2 seconds per lap quicker than him. My tires weren't in tip top condition. At a track where power was even more important, we would have stretched that a little bit. Using the turn 3/4 banking at Homestead earlier in the year we were about 4+ seconds per lap quicker.

Thanks, that is much closer to where we are here on the Left Coast for lap time comparison. There are most certainly have and have not Miata's out here. The ones with the Pro built engines are jest within 2 sec of us and the ones with the stock engine with a fresh head are more like 4 sec back. Greg F
