A trip down memory lane. These guys battle all year long and it all came down to the final race at the Glen to determine the Champ. It was a cold rainy day in October and the Fantastic Four went at from the green to the checker. There was no National Championship yet, so the crown jewel in 944 racing was winning the Mid Atlantic regional championship. http://www.44cup.com/mac-standings-2005Left to right is Ricky Vimmerstadt, Jersey Joe Hrymack, Russ Franklin, and Eric Rupert. Only Ricky still has his 944 from that season, and threatens on occasion to return. Eric and Russ sold their cars not longer after that season. Jersey Joe is deceased.

I remember that race. I had just run my first 44 Cup race about a month earlier at Summit and came up for the Glen race. It poured buckets and Eric Rupert was nice enough to loan me a set of Toyo's for the race. Though he may have regretted that after I ended up taking 2nd in the race behind Ricky and ahead of Jersey Joe. Oops. I think Russ Franklin shunted his car during that race and I don't think he even came back.
There was a group shot of all the cars behind the grandstands that Chris D took, but I can't see to find it at the moment.

I guess I have hung in there a bit. Gee, if I hadn't spent all that money racing, I wonder how my 401K would be looking now?

Wow, great stuff. Keep the history alive. I have documentation from every single race I've done. Keep it together.
