Our spy cameras caught this surprising aero modification during a recent testing session at VIR. Apparently the driver adjusts the aero response as needed during a lap by moving a circular control on a shaft protruding from the firewall. If the circular aero adjustment control is manipulated so that the vehicle mass centroid encounters surface irregularities greater than the square root of the height of the lower chin surface squared, the energy absorbed cause the lower panels to conform to the local average surface altitude. Sources in Porsche engineering stated off the record that the device so far has been effective but not very durable and requires replacement after each activation.
