As I am no longer involved it is a bit easier for me to address this. I don't think Turbo or NA makes any difference as long as the rules are being observed. If someone has the time and financial resources to manipulate the rules there is no stopping that. All that can be done is for tech inspections to become for stringent and in depth.
On another note. I noticed that alot of cars at nationals did not have working brake lights during the Championship race.

But I could never build an S2 to compete with those either. FWIW, I was always happy to just show up and race, I had a great time, got to run up front my share and win a few too. I don't know what satisfaction the guys who build cheaters get out of it, quite frankly.

A lot of very good drivers came thru the SC ranks. I wish them all the best in their future on track endeavors. We'll look for you over in PCA. And.....if they decide to buy Cup class cars and still race with us, all the better.............
Thanks for being a part of the history of the 944 Cup series.

I must say I will really miss running with the 944cup guys and am disappointed supercup will no longer be around. I started my racing with this group and it was a whole lot of fun. I spent a good bit of $$ to make sure my car was legal and met the rules but I know I may have been a minority in that respect. I guess I'll be running GTS3 with the turbo but I have a line on a NA car that I may play around with and get ready for the "self appointed official 944 cup kid" when he comes of age in a few years.

OK before this gets too far off topic, what can be done to save SuperCup?
I understand the NE had entrants but I think we were going to grow in the SouthEast until the break-up with NASA. I had 2 Southeast PCA drivers(1 competed at 2009 44 Nats)(1 is registered for the SE event with PCA at CMP and the other will probably run too) commited to run in the SE until that happened. Poeltl knows these drivers too. Neither ran the SE events with SCCA(and they wont) so the entrants that did would have made more of a class. BTW they are S2s that they converted to SP3 to be more competitive in SuperCup. Why they didnt go to 2010 Nationals is as unknown as why the NE guys didnt show either. If I had ran, we should have had 5 SuperCup entrants in the SE this year.
So can SC be saved?

I don't know much about 944s or the NA models but would it be an opportunity for the NAs in supercup to run in Cup if they carried a ton of weight?

Have not done the math; but you might actually exceed the max allowable gross vehicle weight Not that that has direct bearing on racing said car. It would be one heavy heavy car. Just sayyin...

The ballast required for the SC normal aspirated cars to switch to Cup class would make the unsafe. Even the lowest HP SC car, the 944S, would be a problem. I have a conference call with PCA officials tonite which should answer the question of continuing SC for 2011 and beyond as discussed above.
