An early heads up to all Super Cup competitors that may read the forum. While we have had some very fine racers in Super Cup over the years. our plan is to discontinue the class beginning in 2011 due to a lack of particpation.

Our focus of resources and efforts going forward will be the flagship Cup class which continues to show the support needed to be a successful series.

Plan to. Just trying to catch up from a month of getting ready for Nats and now wrapping it up. Though considering the number of SC drivers this year, don' think it will attract much attention.

So I lay out 1 year and the class goes to hell :D .

Dave, I hope we can rally enough SuperCuppers to get you to keep the class.

We're here, and we'd love to keep it alive, but the gripe I'm hearing is that one or two guys are ruining it for the rest of us.

Only 2 cars for the National event..... lack of participation. In Fla chapter, no driver did more than one weekend. In the MA, only 1 driver did more then 1 weekend. In Canada, only 1 racer did more then 1 event. In the SE, no racer did more then 1 event. In the NE, you had 2 drivers do more then one full event. No SC entries in the NW.

So the cars and drivers may be out there, but they are not racing enough to make it a class or a series. In fact the driver particpation was so low, we couldn't even give away free tires from Hoosier, except for one race the entire year. We cant afford to waste those type of resources because of a lack of participation.

So its not about one or two guys, the SC racers as a group have a displayed a lack of interest in the series.

The economy has not helped. There are certainly enough Suoer Cups around (parked). Too early to throw in the towel.

Seems like there are a lot of us up here in the NE, but after we schlepped down there last year for a 6 lap race none of us were interested to do it again. How about moving the Nationals up here? NJMP? Lots of Canadians would appreciate it, too.

If drivers only support the Nationals in there area, no longer is it a National championship. And for months we advertised this years Nationals as not a NASA 6 lapper, but rather with SCCA Pro and two 45 minutes ( 20 lap) races, so the race length in 2009 does not explain the noticeable absence of NE SC drivers.

I give the Canadians tons of credit, they go where the race is. They showed up at VIR this year and last year in force and they came from further away then the NE. That kind of support is what makes for a successful weekend and series.

But lack of particpation by SC at Nationals is only part of the issue, and not just the NE. SC drivers just didnt show up for anything.........anywhere, Nationals or Regional races in their own neighborhood.

For 2010 we made major SC rules concessions when we revamped the minimum wieghts and max HP/TQ limits, based on input from SC drivers. With a big push from SC drievrs last year, we added a Competition Committee and regional stewards to improve oversight of performance mods. Instead of improving the class entries, particpation dropped dramatically. So we have tried to make changes to help the class, just hasnt worked out.

Yes, the economy certainly has had an impact on entries overall for 2010, however, in contrast, the Cup class tied a record for the number of entries at Nationals while SC had an all time low. I don't think the economy has effected the SC alone, so that does not seem to explain the lack of participation of SC at Nationals.
