This is very sad news. While I never raced against Joe in Cup he did get the drop on me on a restart in a PCA race at Summit Point when he was driving his 944T. Chased for the remainder of the race, but couldn't pull off a pass to get the spot back. We raced hard and clean. I always enjoyed watching him, Eric Rupert, Steve Randolph and Russ Franklin go at it at SP. Always friendly and a great competitor.
