As PCA rules state stock dme and chip is there an a provision for sp1-sp2 cars with a 944 cup certified dme chip?
Say you are at a PCA race and they look at your dme and see the cerified tape on it ....you are not in compliance and will be dq'd ?
Just a thought.....

PCA rules allow for SP2 and SP3 to change the chip, so no issue with using the certified chip.

I have no input into SP1 rules, but believe a stock chip is required by PCA.

The SP1 rules require a stock genuine dme. The chip isn't mentioned, but my assumption is that it must be stock. NASA 944Spec rules which are comparable to the SP1 rules require a stock chip.

It is my understanding that a certified DME is not required for PCA, but is required for regional and national 944Cup points and credit for the 944Cup National Championship race.

Dave, please correct me if I got this wrong.

Correct. One clarification: A driver can get Cup points without a certified dme, but cannot be a Cup regional or national Cup champion unless points earned are with a certified dme.

Not that I know of. Not aware of anyone else that has the capacity and interest, for no cost to the driver. Need to verify that the chip has just one map setting.
