Q. Is there any limit on the size and shape of front spoilers?

A. While the front bumper and down is free to any modification, including the spoiler, there is a limit to how far the spoiler can extend back under the car as part of the rule that doesn't allow under car aero mods.

The spoiler is intended to direct the air in front of the car but should not extend back under the car for the purpose of minimizing air disruption and drag under the car. We will allow nonstock spoilers or similar plates to extend back under the car only as far as needed to protect debris from rising up and damaging the front of the radiator. Of course any OEM stock part is allowed. This applies to all cars and prep levels.

Also spoilers should not extend out from the sides of the cars so far as to present a safety hazard to other cars on the track.

Q. For PCA-prepared cars, can an aftermarket fiberglass dash panel replace the factory original dash?

Using this rule the dash panel may be replaced in whole or in part.
8.1.6 Body / Chassis / Interior - (i) Removal of the car interior, A/C and heating system, head lamps and related parts is allowed.

For both PCA Stock and Prepared cars.

How would you handle the replacement of the stock underpan, ( the part between the radiator core and the engine oil pan) with a sheet of aluminum the same aproximate size and shape? Note: 83-85.5 cars had an aluminum pan with sides and the 85.5 and up cars had a plastic panel.

"I. Interiors, with the exception of seats (which may be replaced, not removed) and the panels affected by the
installation of the roll bar or roll cage, must be as delivered by the factory. Additional gauges may be added but
the stock dash must be retained. Any rear view mirror is allowed.

2. Minimum Weight
A. Vehicle Weight: The minimum weight including driver is set forth in the charts below. This weight limit may be met by removal of the car interior, passenger seat, A/C and heating system, engine pulley belts, head lamps and related parts.

This being an example of where the Cup rules have been modified to make what we thought was an improvement to the PCA Stock/Prepared rules where we allow removal of any interior parts.

I am confused by references to PCA rules and why the rules are evolving even though the season has already started. In Rule 2 of the 944 Cup rules posted on this website, it states that this set of rules is a complete set of rules. No reference to PCA is made. Could somebody clarify these points?

Regardless of how detailed the rules are written, there are always issues to clarify or interpret. We are attempting to clarify issues where questions have come up and explain what the rules mean.

The reference to PCA and sometimes SCCA ITS and various PCA Stock and Prepared rules. What we did prior to this year was adopt the PCA and SCCA rules excpet for specific exceptions we made to those rules. For the first time this year, we issued a consolidated set of rules incorporating the related PCA and SCCA rules. However the reference to the PCA and SCCA rules are still often mentioned.
