With gears and R+P being free in Super Cup, the question was raised whether this means transmissions can be interchanged from model to another, and not just the gears and R+P. After much deliberation with PCA and experts in the field of the related models, the answer is yes, in most cases. We are interpreting the rules on SC transmissions to mean that the transmissions can be interchanged between the SC eligible models with 5 speed transmissions. For SC rules purposes, while 968 transmissions and 944/951 transmissions can't be mixed. The 968 can only be used with the 968 motor. The 944S, 944S2 and 951/951S transmissions may be used interchangeably in those classes. Since gears are free in SC, and so are LSDs, and all cars must meet a minimum weight, no performance advantage can be gained by this intermixing. Performance racing is what is most important, not Concours originality. There is enough ambiguity here that this is a rules clarification, and not a rules change, for which a different and more lengthy procedure would normally be followed.

In addition, we plan to allow the 968 to run a 5 speed transmission from one of the other 944 SC models. An effort to reduce costs to run in the class as the 968 trannies are very expensive.
