Dave, what would this guy need to do to have it evaluated for legality? I'd love the reliability of a new DME (without breaking the bank for a Porsche part). I've asked him if he could keep a "base" version without any of the added things people start talking about (if you read the thread), and he plans on it, hoping it could be deemed legal for SP3/Super Cup (maybe Cup, too, not sure about that one).

Several issues come to mind: reliability,cost, and opening up the black box to new and unrecognizable parts that could be subject to tampering beyond we think we already know with the oem version. At this point still seems the used oem dme's are obtainable at a reasonable price.
