Post subject:  Dyno questions....

We are getting ready to make a bunch of Pre-Season dyno runs and I have some questions...
1. When tested at an event is it just one pull and off or several runs?
2. What correction factor is used? ( there are 6 or 7 choices on a Dynojet 248)
3. Last year we used just temp and atmosphere correction, and we had numbers that seem close to the 144hp limit.

Today I went to the dyno with a car with a fresh engine and learned the following:

Uncorrected HP 141.2, atmo/temp correction 138.1hp, SAE correction 134.0hp.

Tell me which one we are all tuning to.... Greg F

Yes, SAE.

3 pulls, using the highest recorded value for HP and TQ.

Jeez, using SAE I have a lot of work to do.... Greg

( btw, I have been using 5 as the smoothing factor to get readable results.)

Here are the GTS rules with a smoothing factor of 4. It would be nice to use the same Dynos, Correction and factor, since some of us run in both series.

". Competitors must use a Dynojet brand of dyno for certification, and all compliance runs at events will be made on a Dynojet
Model 248, 224, or 424 in SAE mode with a smoothing factor of 4 so it is highly recommended to use one of those dynos with those settings for certification to avoid any errors in classification. To allow a small safety margin for dyno variance, a forgiveness of 4WHP will be given to cars with WHP greater than WTQ and a -4 factor will be applied to the formula for cars using the averaging method for WTQ greater than WHP"

SF of 4 is fine.
