Interesting that according to the hoosier catalog, the 275-35-15, that happen to be 10.1 inch in tread width, are only available in A6 and not in R6.

On the Hooser website, they say the 275-35-15 is available in R6:

Tim the 944 is allowed 8 inch fronts and 9 inch rears under PCA 'stock' preparation rules at 944 Cup weight of 2600 pounds. The same car can go one inch wider than this under the PCA 'prepared' rules at 2700 pounds in 944 Cup at 2700 pounds. The 944 Spec is limited to 15 X 7 wheels all around.

Bill I haven't seen a change to the Cup Car prepared weight of 2750 lbs.

You're right Larry it was 2750 in 2009 and the 2010 rules have not been finalized, so the 2700 is speculation at this point. The weights in my response were only used in reference to the original question regarding wheel widths.

Tim the simple answer is 8's and 9's in stock and 9's and 10's in prepared for a 944 under the PCA preparation rules.

Consideration is being given to allow a bit wider tire for Cup class Prepared as we allow fender flares for wider wheels and tires.

Good idea, since you are allowing 1" wider fenders. It would be nice to be able to use tire widths up to 10.9" in PCA Prepared. The 275/40/17 (10.3"), P295/35ZR17 (10.8"), P275/35ZR18 (10.3") or P285/30ZR18 (10.9") in the PCA Prepared Classes. :geek:

Look for a 10.3 inch wide tire per manufacturer specs.

DD - looking to collate tire specs as some of these came over from the old forums and have superceded the PDF rules

As I understand it - for Cup class

1) Cars must run DOT approved tires
2) Max width is 10.3 inches per manufacturers spec
3 944 Spec cars must run the Toyo RA1 or R888 in the approved size - 225/50/15

Have I missed anything?

Thanks!

Matt
