DD - can you clarify the points as they apply to regional championships?

From a regional points perspective - is the following correct?

NE racer receives 40 regional points for this race
SE racers receives 40 regional points for this race
MA racer #1 receives 40 regional points for this race
MA racer #2 receives 38 regional points for this race

I assume that a racer will declare their region prior to the races such that they get maximum points towards the national championship. However, will this apply to racers who are running just at the nationals - with little or no regional affilitation? This can cause some havoc in the regional points chases.

To clarify my post above.

I am assuming that these regional points would only count AFTER the nationals - no advantage gained toward the actual nationals point "accumulation" math.

All racers must declare a region, including those who don't care about a regional championship. They may "steal points" but it's really no different than out of region or random racers joining a regional race and doing well (e.g. Crowells). The easy solution to avoid point disparity between you and your competitors is is to beat them. :D

For the regions that are still running races (i.e. Mid Atlantic) after the nationals, is the point distribution correct?

i.e. top scorer in Mid-Atlantic gets 40 regional points even if he finished 8th overall.

2nd scorer in Mid Atlantic gets 38 points if they finished for example 12th overall

3rd top scorer in Mid A gets 36 points even if they finished 21st overall - etc.

Two races at Nationals may be used as regional Race 9 and Race 10 for 1 point (each) credit.

This means the two Nationals races will also be treated a regional races and that would include counting towards the max 10 points towrds the National Championship. As was the case last year, this means you only need 8 regional races coming into Nationals to accumulate the max 10 points for the National Championship standings.

For example, if you come into the Nationasl weekend with 6 regionals races and you start both races at Nationals, you will have accumulated 8 total points out of a max 10 pts for purposes of the National Championship standings.

Ok, here is the new final schedule for Nationals just hot off the presses from SCCA Pro. It took some wrangling, but I think we have some great times considering all the series that will be racing that weekend, and the Saturday race is now 45 minutes long.

Friday
11:55 - 12:25 PM: Practice
5:30 - 6:00 PM: Practice

Saturday
9:15 - 9:45 AM: Qualifying for Race #1
12:30 - 1:15 PM: Race #1 (Qualifying Race for Race #2)

Sunday
8:50 - 9:35 AM: Race #2 (Championship Race)


VIR, the track, is also offering a separate practice day on Thursday for anyone interested. You will need to contact VIR directly to arrange to do this day. Don't know the price or the schedule.

Also racin that weekend are World Challenge, Trans-Am, Pro Spec Ford, Pro Formula Enterprise, and Super Karts.

I am trying to get registration open this weekend for Nationals. We will be using Clubregistration.net , the same online registration system used for PCA events. If you dont already have an acct with CRnet, go ahead and get set up now. All payments for entering Nationals will be done thru credit card. The entry fee will be $450 for 3 days, Friday thru Sunday.

When you register you will be asked to identify your crew for the purpose of issuing paddock passes, aka cold passes. If you have crew that you will want to be able to enter the pits, aka, hot passes, you will also need to provide the crew's scca member number. To get a hot pass, a member of your crew must be a scca member. These Hot passes are also nice to have to be able to walk the grid prior to the other races like for World Challenge and Trans Am.
