Hello all, I'm also new to joining 944 Cup and in the process of building a car for next year. I have a question in regards to what size wheel and tire I should or can use.
My 944 is from 1987 and that's the late offset. I'm planning to build it to PCA Stock SP1 class. What wheel option can I go? I see that you can widen them from 15x7 to 9" and go 225 fronts and 275 rears. Is that what most people would do?
What happens to the offset if I were to widen the 7" to 9" wheel? Would I have to use spacers?
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

That would be Weldcraft Wheels in Michigan 734-420-2211 budget at least $175 per wheel. Fuchs won't work on late offset car. I used Boxter Wheels 16" though.

SP 1 rules limit wheels to 15 x 7 only and Toyo 225/50-15.

. The wheel can widen so the offset is not effected so that's not an issue. As Bill indicates, you if use the 9 inch rim u bump to one of the prep levels in SP2 of which there are a few, the most common selected among Cup drivers being SP2/PCA Stock.

Dave,
Thank you for your reply. I found a set of 15x7 cookies for $200 and it's out of a 83 NA 944. I have a 87 car which is the late offset. If I were to buy this set of wheels and get them widen, would this early offset work or I still need to get the late offset?
Thanks

The early offset wheels will stick out too much on a late car. They will not work.

Pardon?
Several of us use early offset cookies on late cars without issue, using 225/50-15 tires.

The wheels are 15x7 early offset and I'm planning to widen them fronts 8" with 225/50/15 and rear to 9" running 275/35/15. You are saying that the early offset can work for my late car even if they get widen?

They work at 7" only... they fill out the fenders to the very limit at 7".
