The Road Atlanta option would also include a Thursday – Road Atlanta sanctioned Test Day, 4 20-minute sessions throughout the day ($225 in 2009).
The more I look at the Road Atlanta option, the better it looks. While I think we could generate a bit more revenue at SWC events, the ARRC is attractive on many levels, not the least of which is the free PR we get in GRM as this event gets free advertisng from GRM before the event and comprehensive coverage of the event post race. Plus, the SEC, our 2nd oldest chapter, has not had a National on their tracks.
ps. both the qual session and race on Sunday for this event would be a Cup only run grp. Never thought in my lifetime we would ever ever be offered this by SCCA and at their biggest East Coast event of the year no less. Looks like NASA has done us a big favor.

The upside of the ARRC is, there is Hoosier guy there .....(not us) The downside of the SWC, there is no Hoosier guy there..(unless Dave makes it part of the deal) ....

Well that's somethin I've not thought of. Woudl Phils Tire show at a SWC event if the Cup series was the only one using them? We woudl otherwise need to buy thetires in advance from Phil or another trackside Hoosier distributor.

Looking at the SWC dates we could do them providing we got all the Hoosier or Hankook sales for that event and Dave can arrange for us to be there. This way it would pay for us to go and service just the 44Cup guys. Except Canada....way too much trouble and money for us to go there.
For the ARRC we can't go there and service the 44Cup...some one already does the Hoosier trackside.

A late entry for the 2010 Nationals is with EMRA at NJMP for September 18-19. Saturday 9/18 We will run 1 practice session with the EMRA classes and then we will have our own 20 minute qual session and our own 40 minute race. Sunday 9/19 We will run 1 practice session with the EMRA classes and then we will have our own 20 minute qual and our own 40 minute race.
Also attractive with the EMRA is option is that they will allow the Cup to buy track time from them for a price that will allow us to profit from the entry fees at a level that would over double what we could make with SCCA Pro or club race.
ps. still awaiting word from SCCA Pro on our cars and their tech requirements.

As of now, Phil's Tire Service would be able to provide trackside support for this EMRA event also, if it happened.

Against all kind of odds, it appears that Nationals is on with Speed World Challenge at VIR!!!!!!!!!!!
This is 95% certain at this moment. I hope to have any doubt removed shortly. There were alot of hurdles to jump that I actually thought were too many and too high.
Doing the event with SWC certainly raises the profile of the event, for the series, and our sponsors, and also gives us access to professional TV crews and announcers to tape the race. And, and, we will have all our own practice, qual, and race sessions. Plus, it will help to generate some cash to cover costs of the type of things we want to do. Think we will also have access to some Pro drivers, like Randy Pobst, for ride alongs at VIR or chalk talks.
Will provide a final answer and more details as they become available.

DD,
Will there be participation points awarded for regional event participation up to 10 points just like 2009 or will it be a clean slate and winner take all in September?

There will be some type of qualifying requirement for Nats as we dont want a one time ringer to drop in and take it all. Last years format seemed to do this and still allow anyone who wanted to be a part of the event to participate.
