Here is the schedule for Nationals. Comes out to 3 hours of track time over 3 days. And yes, the 944 Cup has its OWN run grp thruout the weekend.
Friday 11:50 - 12:20 PM Practice 4:50 - 5:35 PM Practice
Saturday 1:00 - 1:30 PM Qualifying for Race#1 5:30 - 6:00 PM Race # 1 (Qualifying race for Sunday race) Sunday 8:50 - 9:35 AM Race # 2 (Championship Race)

When comparing the SCCA Pro safety rules with our cars, there were many items we would be noncompliant, for example, the cage, safety harnesses, fire systems, hood pins, catch tanks, and much more. However I was able to get SCCA Pro to accept the idea that if our cars met the SCCA Club safety rules for ITS class cars, that our cars would pass tech for the event. ITS is the comparable class for the 944's with SCCA.
I have not done a review of the SCCA GCR to compare NASA/PCA safety rules. But using the ITS safety rules will eliminate most if not all of the differences we saw between our cars and SCCA Pro.
SCCA Pro agreed that if a Cup car shows up with a current SCCA club log book, that no addition inspection would be needed at the event. To expedite getting a SCCA log book, I'd like to work with our Directors to get a SCCA tech person to be at least one Cup race in each Chapter for the purpose of getting a scca inspection and log book. But a scca club log book is not required for Nationals, just would expedite the process at the track .
We will be going to the scca gcr to compare to our cars. Hopefully any Cup drivers that are familiar with scca club rules and NASA/PCA rules can help us identify any possible differences that need to be addressed between now and Nationals so drivers can fix those issues. Greg Fordahl where are u ( Yeah, I know the Rolex 24 hrs) ?
All and all, Im amazed how smoothly this process is going. SCCA and World Challenge want us to be there, that helps. My thought is that if this one event works out well, next year we can do that 3 or 4 race Pro Championship series with World Challenge. This would eat into the regional schedules a bit, but I think worth the compromise. And yes Canadians, count on Mosport being a part of the series. I would also consider having some serious prize money on hand, with a tiered entry fee for club vs pro entries.

My review of the scca GCR shows minimal differences between NASA and SCCA safety requirements. Interested in observations from others. We look to be covered with major items like cages, fire suppression and harnesses.
Here's what I see that would need to be addresses:
Nets shall be attached to the roll cage; plastic buckles, cable ties, hose clamps, and elastic cords are not permitted.
Oil holding tanks and engine breathers, whether directly or indirectly ventilating the crankcase, and all transmission/transaxle breathers shall be equipped with oil catch tanks. Minimum catch tank capacity shall be one U.S. quart for the engine and transmission/transaxle.
Each driver’s suit shall display the official SCCA uniform patch logo (see figures 2 and 3). Each car competing in an event shall display the official SCCA field logo (see figures 4 and 5) unobstructed and prominently on both sides of the car and adjacent to the side numbers. A third logo shall be displayed on the front of the car unobstructed and prominently near the front number. The logo shall be on the spoiler of cars so equipped.
And while ERW tubing is no longer permitted in NASA for new log books, it is possible that there are some older cages out there with ERW that were grandfathered into NASA before DOM tubing was required. ERW tubing is not allowed for new log books issued by SCCA Club ITS.

The points system for Nationals will differ a bit from last year. This year we will have a two Part format: Part 1 will consist of each driver getting a 1 point credit for each regional Cup race scored during the season for a max of 10 points. Part 2 will consist of points scored during the Championship race at Nationals on Sunday, using the same points scoring method used for regional races. Final standings for Nationals will be the result of combining the points earned for Parts 1 and 2. Ties will be resolved by the finishing position in the Sunday race.
No minimum number of regional races are required to participate in Cup Nationals.

So let me see if I understand this....points towards the championship will be 10 for regional races and 40 + 40 for the championship races for a total of 90 points. With the championship races weighted 8/9ths a guy with a dominant car that wins both races but participates in no regional races mathematically eliminates everyone who doesn't finish 2nd or 3rd or a combo of 2nd and 4th in both championship races as you must have 72 or better, assuming you have acquired the 10 regional points by showing up and supporting the series for the whole year. Correct? If so, I really wish the regional races were weighted more for those of us who participate all year long and have average cars that are developed within reasonable budgets. It would be nice to think you have a shot. Just my $.02

Only the Sunday race counts for points, for a total of 50 points. A first place finish by someone who has done no regional races can be beat by someone who gets 5th and has 10 regional races. Being able to take 5th and win it all is pretty generous.
No offense, but the definition of "average" means you should finish in the middle. Reasonable budgets is not synonymous with being average or stuck in the middle of the pack, especially when there is an above average driver behind the wheel. The standings are littered with relatively "average" cars that finished towards the top.
